The “work kit” of Michlol

Our “work kit” of techniques is rich and varied, enabling us to find the personal best match for every client.

Counseling and Psychotherapy

A series of sessions in which the psychologist listens attentively, tries to understand underlying issues, sometimes shedding new light or new perspectives on problems. The client experiences being listened to and being in the limelight of concern, thereby gradually learning to listen to himself, his sensations, feelings, thoughts and primarily his inner voice.

Counseling and Psychotherapy can address themselves to the whole array of a client’s issues or can focus on a central issue troubling the client at the time. Work can be short term or extensive, depending on the needs and priorities of the client. Counseling is aimed at helping the client overcome his/her distress while developing his /her understanding of himself/herself and his/her relationships.

TBT – The Tapping and Breathing Technique

TBT is a relaxation technique as well as a treatment method for stress and distress. Technically, the client taps on his/her thighs or knees, while listening to his/her breathing. The technique facilitates listening to the body in a state of relaxation. Relaxation then enables suppressed memories and feelings to come into consciousness. Tapping and breathing help release these previously suppressed contents from the energy field. TBT can be woven into counseling and can, like all methods we use, be used in conjunction with hypnosis, guided imagery, CBT and other techniques.

EFT – The Emotional Freedom Technique

EFT is a therapeutic technique improving the flow of energy in a simple and immediate way. The technique enables betterment of the energy flow through tapping on key points of the body while focusing on an issue at stake.  It often brings about relaxation, helps reduce anxiety and stress, pain, phobias, fears, obsessive thoughts and behaviors, and facilitates the release of trauma. EFT can also be helpful in the treatment of self esteem, detrimental beliefs and behavior patterns. EFT combines old Chinese medical knowledge about the flow of energy with western psychotherapy.

CBT – Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

CBT is a form of psychotherapy that emphasizes the important role of thought on how we feel and behave. It focuses on identifying the thoughts behind feelings and behaviors that are detrimental to the client. Focusing and clarifying thoughts, believes and behavior patterns, helps give up old believes and facilitates a new understanding. New thoughts then bring about a change of feeling and behavior.  CBT uses techniques of relaxation and guided imagery and is effective in the treatment of anxiety, phobias, behavior disorders, difficulties in controlling anger and violence, addictions and more.

Coaching and personal accompaniment

Coaching begins with the process of identifying the client’s abilities, talents, interests, needs and wishes in order to formulate his/her goal. Then client and therapist outline the stages on the way to attaining these goals and the concrete steps to be taken for fulfilling them. The goal can be in any domain of life, e.g. processing study and vocational choices, going through the stages of finding a suitable job, accompanying mothers after child birth until they find a new balance between all of the changed tasks of life, etc. Coaching then accompanies the client through all the stages on the way to fulfilling the goal.

Biofeedback

Biofeedback enables the client gain control over physiological functions that are commonly believed to be non influential. The method uses an electronic computerized system that presents the client with ongoing information about physiological changes occurring in his body. The information enables the client to exercise influence over theses processes, thereby creating physiological, emotional, cognitive and behavioral changes.

Training biofeedback helps regain control over sensations, feelings, behavior and health.

EMDR - Desensitization and Reprocessing Eye Movement

EMDR is a relatively new and very powerful procedure for focused, short term psychotherapy. The client is asked to move his/her eyes according to instructions, thereby letting repressed memories and feelings come up and get released.  The method was developed for trauma treatment, and is helpful in putting aside persistent memories, alleviating non-ending mourning, anxieties and fears.

SE – Somatic Experiencing

Somatic Experiencing leads the client towards focusing on quiet listening to the sensations of the body. The therapist leads the process, asks questions from time to time, while leaving time for reflection on the bodily sensations; the client communicates his sensations to the therapist.

Focusing on the body gradually enables it to “remember” both pleasant and difficult sensations and feelings that were accumulated in it over the years. When the body brings up painful sensations and feelings - the pain gets released. In a gradual and gentle process the soul – body gets cleansed of trauma.

Relaxation and Meditation

Relaxation and Meditation are powerful ways for reducing tension and creating a good energy flow. They help reduce muscle tension, pain, irregular breathing and mental stress. They are powerful ways for calming down and living serenely in the midst of stress. Since there is a wide range of relaxation and meditation techniques it is possible to find the one that suits the client best.

Guided imagery and hypnosis

Imagery is an ability of the right brain hemisphere to imagine, think in pictures and move in space, very much like in a dream. When imagination is guided by a professional it can be a very effective tool. The client may identify the main issues behind a problem and may then be able to facilitate processes of change. Guided imagery and hypnosis are often woven together in psychotherapy.

Hypnosis enables the client to experience a memory or look at it without involvement. It may be practiced only by authorized practitioners and can be a powerful procedure for treating psychosomatic illness, pain, tension and fear.

Transpersonal Psychotherapy

Transpersonal psychotherapy focuses on the history of the soul beyond the present reincarnation. Its basic assumption is that the present life is only one of many experiences in the chain of reincarnation. When a person reviews previous reincarnations and the traumas he/she had experienced - the trauma gets released and loses its impact on the present life. Experiencing previous reincarnations also brings about a change in the attitude towards death. Fear dissipates and life can be lived more fully.

In reincarnation work the psychologist guides the client through guided imagery or some other technique. The client is led either to a meaningful previous life or to the life of the spirit between lives. Sessions of viewing the life of the spirit between lives can be of great impact to connecting anew to the spirit.
